Online Harassment - What We Can Do About It?April 25, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (EST)
Online harassment is a growing issue that the U.S. legal system and social media platforms have been slowly starting to address. According to a 2017 Pew Research Study, 41% of Americans have experienced targeted harassment online, and 66% witnessed online abuse directed at others. But the same study also found that 1 in 3 Americans have intervened in some way after they witnessed abusive behavior towards others online. Users are ready to take action and co-create a web experience that is free from abuse, and that’s where our event comes in. Join us as we learn how to identify the types of harassment that occur online, what’s being done to address online abuse, and how we can address it and promote safer communities online. Our presenters for this topic include licensed social worker and facilitator Sharon Rice, with more to come!
